Where in the heck did February go??

How in the heck did it get to be the end of the first week of March??? I guess because last week and this week have been a blur. Let me see... oh yeah... the last weekend of February I spent working on the house, then last week I had a sick kid, a realtor visit and then a women's retreat. This week I spent 2 days away in Houston for work. Geez, I am tired just typing it all out! So yeah I guess that explains it!

I mentioned a realtor, she came by last week on Wednesday. I think it went well, she told me a few things we need to fix but all in all it looks like our house will sell for enough to have a down payment for a bigger better house. I can honestly say this excites me! I am excited about a bigger house but more than that I am excited for a new place to make great memories with my family. We've been through some pretty awful things in this house and it would be nice to start again. Don't get me wrong this has been a great house, lots of wonderful memories too. We've never really had any major issues or problems so it wont be awful if we can't sell it but it sure would be fun to have more room! Plus a nice backyard with places for my little guy to explore!

Well, Case is officially off of milk. This kid can't seem to get well so we are trying something new. Dr T thinks dairy is the culprit so we will just have to see. I never knew how much stuff has milk in it til I had to start reading labels to find out. This is definitely going to be work. But this face is worth it!

Here's to a new month, new things to get busy doing and celebrating my sweet grandmother's 95th birthday!

A weekly wrap-up

So this week was rather busy... first off it was a 4 day work week as I had Monday off. The beautiful thing being the boys had school and I took little man to daycare! I know, I know it could've been quality time with them but truthfully I had a lot to do for a consignment sale I am taking part in! There's no way I would've gotten anything done with my boys home!

So Christian had a follow-up at the Pedi Cardiac doctor. No change, he still has a leaky valve but shouldn't suffer any consequences for it. He does need to take his allergy meds regularly... CHRISTIAN, pay attention if you are reading this!!!

Case had his first appointment with the allergist. I expected it to be pretty rough and it was. Poor sweet boy was not friends with his nurse once she was done. Thank goodness for iPhone, you tube and a little boy fascination with fire trucks. I was able to distract him for the 10 minute wait. The bad news is he is allergic to peanuts and some outdoor molds. Hopefully with regular allergy medication we will be on to new and better things!

All in all Kaden had a pretty good week! He is currently a avid collector of all things bey-blades. I don't get it, its just a glorified top but whatever makes him happy. It must be a boy thing. All of his friends are also into them too!

I called a Realtor and officially have an appointment next week to see what our house is worth and whether or not it will be beneficial for us to sell. So here's hoping for good news. Lord knows we did not get good news with our taxes.

Valentines Day

Today is Valentines Day! I like this holiday! I think its fun to give gifts to my honey and my boys but also I love all of the pinks and reds! Its the girly girl in me I guess!

Last year I had alot of fun with my little guy! I seriously doubt that I could recreate this... he is much to wiggly and mobile! I am sure he would run and smear those hard to get kisses everywhere... but that's ok. I sure do love this little guy! He makes our world go 'round!

This Valentines day will most likely be a little different. But thats ok. Chris and Kaden have a date to go to the Monster Trucks. Christian will be off with Bri on a date,  so I am more than willing to have a fun little date with my sweet baby boy! I am not sure yet what we will do but I am sure we will figure it out!

I think that Chris and I will eventually have a date just the two of us but we can wait! We have precious boys that will not wait. They are growing and changing everyday. I don't want to miss a single minute if we can help it!

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Gafford Imfirmary

This has been a rough week in the Gafford family. This momma has been sick in bed for the last 3 days and am just now feeling good enough to be back at work and in the land of the living. I knew it was coming, could feel the tell tale signs that I was about to be sick but hoped and prayed and even medicated to stop it BUT alas, it hit and hit hard. The hard part of me being sick this week is it's also Chris' safety meeting week. This means that my poor husband is up and at work by 6 AM Tuesday through Thursday not counting the drive and set up time. So essentially he is up at 4am. Which means its just a rough week for him anyway.

Tuesday night when Kaden got home, he says his throat hurts... somewhere inside of me, my thoughts were along the lines of "yeah right kid, you just want to be home cause Im home!" But no, Wednesday morning he woke up with a pretty nasty cough which meant that he probably needed to see the pediatrician. Turns out he not only has sinusitis like his mom but also bronchitis which is never good with this kid since he is so prone to pneumonia. So Kaden and I were sicky buddies Wednesday and Thursday! Thankfully he felt better today too!

Just to top the week off right though, Case came home from daycare on Wednesday afternoon with alot of drainage in his left ear. Keep in mind this kid had tubes put in last year and has done wonderful! Anyways, because I have the best husband in the world, he came back to the house after his safety meeting yesterday and took Case to see the Dr. and yep, a stupid ear infection. Thankfully since he is already on antibiotics, he just got ear drops.

So, if you see us around this weekend, ignore the puffy eyes, red noses and awful coughing. We are finally on the mend. Also say a prayer that Chris and Christian avoid getting sick!

Tax Season and a New House?

Tax season is here. A couple years ago that was something I didn't mind or didn't worry about... I don't really guess I am worried about it now, it's just different since Chris started consulting. I think I just always knew that we would get a refund and now its questionable. But it is what it is. Moving on!

The good news is that I think that I have finally convinced my hubs that we should get a bigger, better, newer house! Woo Hoo! So so so excited. Our house has been a good house. It was the perfect house for when we needed it. We bought it from Chris' aunt, it was probably the best first house purchase ever. It was easy, they helped with closing costs and we didn't use a Realtor. So really selling a house and buying a house at the same time will be new to us.

So how does one even go about getting ready to put a house on the market and looking for a new one. For this girl who is a hoarder keeper of things, de-cluttering is going to suck. Packing will suck, unpacking will suck and so will the actual move. But the upside is a new house that we get to pick based on things that we want. Like... a bigger bathroom, a bigger kitchen, walk-in closets and a fun backyard!

So, wish us luck, and say a prayer that we find the perfect house, one that we can live in forever!

So I have a senior in high school this year... I've known that it was coming... I've been dreading that it was coming and now its here. Don't get me wrong I am SUPER proud of Christian, excited to see where this kid is going in his life, but somehow knowing that he is graduating makes the fact that he is growing up ok fine... grown really real! I may have had the first oh my goodness this is happening melt down the other night. The graduation schedule came in the mail and then he brought home the announcement order information stuff. Thankfully the house was pretty quiet so no one actually witnessed the hypothetical meltdown... no witness except for Case that is! I know he won't confirm anything so its safe to say there was no actual meltdown!

It makes a momma's heart proud to look at this kid and know with out a doubt the we've done something good. He's smart, makes good grades, he's handsome, and just an all around good boy. I'm very blessed to have a great relationship with him, and can't wait for our trip to New York this summer. Just he and I. I'm pretty sure we will make our mark on Manhattan!
So, if you see me anytime during the next few months especially in May... and my face is red or puffy, just assume its allergies and not the fact that I am crying because my boy is graduating! Thank goodness for Kaden and Case, I'm certainly not ready to have an empty nest!

Just look at this kid... he's pretty stinkin cute!

Sick Again

My poor sweet boy is sick again. It seems like this boy can't catch a break. He's on antibiotics more than he's not, at least it feels that way. What makes that harder is that he is allergic to penicillin. So... the Dr's have to think extra hard on what to give him. And... this kid is not a lay around and cuddle kind of sick kid, he's a trooper and just keeps going! Occasionally he will be still and sweet and that's really only when he is tired and or watching Bubble Guppies!

A Year in Review

So I am completely at a loss for words that it is officially 2014. Seriously the last few months flew by. Like in a blur and I am not sure that I was even awake for some of it. However, 2013 was a pretty good year for my crew. We were blessed in so many ways. Financially, spiritually and physically.

We got to watch our precious boys grow, and boy did they ever! We have great jobs, a nice house, a brand new Tahoe that I might have begged for, we went on some pretty neat trips and had a wonderful holiday season!

Ryan is back in Midland. He seems to be doing ok, we saw him a couple days after Christmas. I wish he was around more, it makes me sad that Case hardly knows him, but I am hoping that he is on the way to doing better for himself. I sure love this kid man. I don't even have a recent pic of him. I guess that's what happens when they grow up and leave home

Christian has moved into a new chapter in his life, we I mean he broke up with his longtime girlfriend that he had been with since his freshman year. I know he misses her, I miss her, but I am happy as long as he's happy. He's on the last leg of Senior year! I can't wait to see where this kid is going to go. I am so very proud of the young man that he is and the man he is becoming.

Kaden is my happy, computer nerd, video game lovin' kid. Man I love this one's positive outlook. He's had quite the struggle so far in 5th grade. I don't think he was prepared for how hard it was going to be, I know I wasn't! But if there is one thing I can always expect from this kid, it's that even when things seem bad and his smile is upside down, he bounces back like no one ever! He took the year 2013 out with a bang... he chose Jesus! Chris baptized him on December 29, 2013. We couldn't be prouder!

Case... oh lord, I don't even know where to start with this one. This precious boy can always bring a smile to my face, which is good cause I think we might be in trouble once he hits the terrible twos. (I think God knows what he's doing when he makes these boys cute) He's learned so much. He can do over 15 signs, and now has added words to go with them. He's running, not walking. He makes our family complete. I don't know who adores him more... me, his dad or his brothers. He is definitely the center of attention and I don't think any of of would have it any other way!

Chris and I have had a great year, even though Chris was laid off earlier this year, he's found a job that he's pretty happy with. I was promoted to Executive Director at MECD and couldn't be happier with my job! We've been blessed with a great marriage and beautiful kids... what more could we ask for. Well if you ask me... nothing except maybe a new bigger house! (hint hint! Babe, you know I had to put it out there!)

I'm not normally a big New Year's Resolution kinda girl, but this year I really want to do better, better at a lot of things... praying, being thankful, being happier, more patient, more tolerant, and last but not least, I want to blog more.

Lamentations 3:22-24
Because of the Lord's faithful love we do not perish, for His mercies never end.
23 They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!
24 I say: The Lord is my portion, therefore I will put my hope in Him.
